The stars: CivFund, CivSource South Africa, CivSource Kenya, and CivLegacy Foundation emerged at different times, yet their journeys are intertwined, shining as one constellation of powerful forces. Together, they light the way toward a brighter future for Africa, their collective glow guiding the continent forward with hope and determination.

Since October 2017, this galaxy has expanded, each star drawing from the same luminous sun, all contributing to a shared vision of progress and change. As the galaxy evolves, it mirrors the rich cultural and philanthropic landscape of Africa, where innovation blends seamlessly with tradition.

The first star to ignite in 2019, CivFund shines as the foundation of the galaxy. As a "fund of funds," it provides essential resources to civil society organizations across Africa. Disrupting conventional funding models, CivFund embraces feminist principles and channels the power of communities. Its light is a beacon for movements seeking to spark meaningful change, casting rays of hope across the African horizon.
Lighting up in 2021, CivSource South Africa shines brightly over the Southern African region. This star focuses on nurturing the next generation of socially conscious leaders and promoting wellness through indigenous wisdom and informed practices. Its energy nourishes a culture of African philanthropy that transcends time, connecting the Southern and Eastern reaches of the continent in a continuum of light.
Born in 2022, CivSource Kenya illuminates the East African region, its glow spreading across the continent. Its energy is dedicated to strengthening civil society through advisory services, leadership coaching, and grant-making. CivSource Kenya fosters partnerships that ensure sustainable, lasting change, expanding the galaxy’s influence across Africa.
The newest star, CivLegacy Foundation, began to glow in 2022, focused on enhancing leadership and cultivating local philanthropy across the continent. CivLegacy fuels civil society leaders through initiatives like the Mopane Leadership Programme, helping them shine even brighter as they lead their communities toward transcendent change.
