Rockefeller Foundation Advances African Energy Solutions at COP29
At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, The Rockefeller Foundation committed $10.9 million to African-led clean energy initiatives. Key investments include the African Energy Futures Initiative, the African School of Regulation, Kenya’s Clean Cooking Delivery Unit, and Zambia’s 1,000 Mini-Grid Initiative. These efforts aim to bridge Africa’s energy gap, impacting over 600 million people without electricity.
William Asiko, Vice President of The Rockefeller Foundation’s Africa Regional Office, emphasized, “Africa’s leadership is paving the way for a sustainable energy future on the continent and around the world.”
