Suubi Fund

About Suubi Fund

'Suubi’ is a Luganda word that means ‘Hope.’ Through the Suubi Fund, CivFund aims to improve the plight of children and youths with disabilities and protect their rights. The Suubi Fund was established in 2024 with funding from a Dutch foundation, the Lilliane Fonds. The funding was provided under the Building Effective Networks—Multi-Annual Program Plan (BEN-MAPP) framework. The shared goal of partners under BEN-MAPP and the Suubi Fund is to improve the living conditions and dignity for persons with disabilities in Uganda and their caregivers/families irrespective of their gender, age, and form of disability. This will be achieved through the pathways below.

  1.  Supporting the capacity development of children and youth with disabilities, their caregivers, and actors that contribute to their empowerment.

  2. Facilitating access to political and socio-economic rights for children and youth with disabilities irrespective of age, gender, or type of disability.

  3. Strengthening service delivery/providers to enhance sustainable access to quality integrated services for children and youth with disabilities.

  4. Supporting the development, review, and/or enforcement of progressive disability laws, policies, institutional frameworks, and norms/values.

  5. Building capacities of organizations that support children and youth with disabilities and their caregivers in different ways.

The Suubi Fund stands as a beacon of hope, working to uphold the dignity, rights, and well-being of children and youth with disabilities and their families across Uganda. By empowering individuals, strengthening systems, and transforming policy frameworks, the Fund is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and just society where every child, regardless of ability, can thrive. Together with its partners, CivFund reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that Suubi - Hope - is not just a word, but a lived reality for all.
